Here at Clean-Shield we like to think of ourselves as one big happy family and that doesn’t just mean the workplace, today we celebrate the achievements of one such young man, Harry.
Harry is the son of a very proud Mum our very own Operations Manager Terri and just like his Mum Harry loves all thing sporty especially Cross Country Running.
Harry is just 10 years old and is a pupil at Hardwicke Parochial Primary School. In October 2014 he was entered into the Gloucester City Cross Country Championships at Plock Court, although Harry is a Year 5 pupil he was put into the Year 6 race so was running against boys older than himself and came a very impressive 14th out of 250. As Harry had finished in the top 15 he was selected join the Gloucester City training squad where intensive training was held between November and March at Ribston Hall School. At the beginning of March a selection race was held and the first 12 boys home were chosen to represent Gloucester in the County Primary Schools Cross Country Championships – Harry being one of them.
The County Championships were held on the 21st March at St Edwards School in Cheltenham and of the 98 boys racing Harry came in 35th and was the 5th Gloucester boy home. 9 districts had entered the Championships and overall Gloucester Boys came 5th. Harry had competed in the previous year’s race and had finished in 66th position and had set a personal goal of finishing in the top 40 so was delighted by the result.
Running is not the only sport in his blood as he is also a keen footballer and currently plays for Hardwicke Rangers and also attends the Cheltenham Town FC Development Centre where he has been scouted by none other than League 1 leaders Bristol City and the Premierships West Bromwich Albion.
Clean Shield MD Kathy Price said “I am a passionate believer in personal development both inside and outside of the workplace and it is great to see a young man like Harry not only setting personal goals but surpassing them and I am sure these skills will pay dividends for Harry in the bright future that is ahead of him”.
